New Beginnings, New Yarns, New Kits
A friend’s kiddo turned 1 year old recently and to celebrate the milestone, she wrote a funny and unabashedly honest account of her birth story. It triggered memories of my first delivery too, which wasn’t so very long ago (my firstborn is 19 months) and perhaps some anxiety for the next one to come (my second pregnancy is well into its third trimester).
Looking back, my firstborn ushered a huge wave of changes and transformation to our lives. Firstly, the little guy came 6 weeks ahead and we hadn’t even packed our hospital bag. Gratefully we had a safe, smooth delivery and despite some health issues due to prematurity that we had to tackle in the months that followed, he got bigger and stronger and we became happier, better equipped, less frazzled first-time parents. He wasn’t the only baby I birthed in 2013.
It was a combination of reasons that led me to start-up Sewinlove a few months later; 2 of the strongest ones were that I am really crazy about yarn crafts and that I was not willing at that time to exchange my time with my high-needs child for a high-commitment corporate job.
And so… the first few workshops ran, I met streams of interesting, fun and friendly craft-learners, the exciting first yarn imports rolled into our home and the first version of Sewinlove’s online storefront on sewinlove.bigcartel.com was launched… I was fortunate to meet the lovely and kind ladies at BFF Zakka Store, and some really hardcore fellow yarn craftholics who have supported me through Sewinlove’s birth til now. A big thank you to all of you!
So what’s going on with Sewinlove now?
New Yarn Craft Workshops/Home Studio to come: Feb/Mar 2015
On and off I’ve received enquiries on beginner/advanced crochet and tatting class schedules. I’ll like to take this opportunity to officially announce on my blog and to my newsletter subscribers that I’ve taken a break from classes to rest and prepare for the second download (haha, I mean, delivery). I expect to be able to resume weekly/fortnightly workshops, depending on response and takeup, by Feb/Mar 2015. And as some of you know, I am moving house late this year and have a penchant for several old-world lace-making techniques that are practically unknown in Singapore… I have a huge pot of ideas brewing to introduce different, more interesting yarn crafts to your midst next year, possibly in my own home studio, stay tuned!
Business as Usual at sewinlove.bigcartel.com – New Yarns, New Kits
While the workshops go on hiatus, you can still shop online at sewinlove.bigcartel.com for yarns, tools, accessories and DIY kits as I have help to ensure the storefront remains in operation. In fact, this is one of the reasons the storefront received a facelift last month to better cater to shoppers’ needs. You might have also noticed that across the board, several yarn prices were dropped as I revised my pricing strategy in the hope of bringing more value to my customers.
And for those of you who adored the handmade necklaces I designed, I’m happy to now share that several of them are now available as DIY kits! For a limited time starting from now, enjoy a DIY Kits promotion: 5+1 DIY KITS IN A SINGLE PURCHASE [Validity: 15/09/14-15/10/14]. Buy any 5 DIY Kits and get your choice of a 6th DIY Kit free! Enter name of DIY Kit you wish to receive free on PayPal checkout page.
On the yarns front, I’ve recently added a new cotton range. Yes, cotton again, because as you know, I’m crazy over cotton. Sorbet cotton boasts a lovely palette of bright, chirpy colours and for a limited launch period up to end of Sep, you can collect every colour (20 in all) in a Joy Box at a whopping 30% off the usual price. If you like only some of its colours, I hope you’ll give it a try when the individual cones go on sale from 1 Oct 2014 onwards.
Also, don’t forget to come back often to have a browse at the Bargain Box which will continually have new cut-price great deals added to it as I de-stash discontinued ranges/odd balls in preparation of our new house move.
With this update, I shall say goodbye for now! I’ll be posting on IG and blogging often to keep in touch! Hugs and kisses. Xx, Diana.
