Jubilee Hare

Jubilee was so-named because while my whole family was enjoying the possibly once-in-a-lifetime experience of watching the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on tv, I was busy trying to sew all his different parts together.

Materials:

Handknit cotton in grey, beige and black
Pure wool dk in beige for the pompom tail and scalloped scarf
3.75mm crochet needle, for a tighter stitch
Polyfilling and 6-8mm safety eyes
Tapesty needle

Pattern for the head:

Work in spirals. Do not slip stitch at the end of rounds. Place a stitch marker or waste yarn of contrasting colour at the start of each round to help you with tracking your stitch count.

Row 1: Start with a magic ring. 6 sc. Close the ring. [6 st]

Row 2: 2 sc in each of the 6 st = 12 st

Row 3: *Skip first st. Dc x 7 into the next st. Skip next st. Sc x 1 into the next st.*

Make a small pompom for the tail. Sewing on the arms and legs and ears, and especially the head to the torso will take time and patience. But it’ll be worth it!
